What is the hazard with Product Recall: Fidlock Hermetic Dry Bag (2609-0075)?
Product Recall: Fidlock Hermetic Dry Bag (2609-0075) (Fidlock GmbH) was announced earlier this year, in the "Hobby/sports equipment - Swimming/Surfing/Diving Sports Equipment - Replacement Parts/Accessories" category. Products from lot number 2409140930201 have a manufacturing defect affecting the adhesive bond between the closure strips and the bag film. As a result, the closure strips may detach partially or completely during use, causing the product to lose its intended function and potentially releasing the enclosed magnets. The magnets constitute small parts and present a risk of injuries if swallowed, especially by young children. If one or more magnets are swallowed, they can attract each other within the body, causing serious internal injuries. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. That is the hazard as reported publicly by the firm and the regulator; it does not necessarily mean every unit has failed.
