What is the hazard with Mini Projector Q5 Mate (2607-0189)?
Mini Projector Q5 Mate (2607-0189) was announced earlier this year, in the "Communication and media equipment – Projection systems" category. The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the plug face does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363. This may result in the user receiving an electric shock when removing or inserting the plug from the socket. Additionally, the adaptor has poor internal construction with wires soldered directly to the PCB with no mechanical fixing. Some of the required documentation and markings were not present. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994. That is the hazard as reported publicly by the firm and the regulator; it does not necessarily mean every unit has failed.
