What is the hazard with Q.ik Pilot X7 E-Bike (2606-0217)?
Q.ik Pilot X7 E-Bike (2606-0217) (Q.ik) was announced earlier this year, in the "Hobby/sports equipment – Cycles (Powered)" category. The product presents a serious risk of fire because it is supplied with a non-compliant two-pin plug that does not incorporate a fuse and therefore does not meet the requirements of BS 1363. In the event of a fault or overcurrent, there is no adequate protection, which may lead to overheating and a risk of fire. Additionally, improvements are required to the documentation, markings, and instruction manual. A valid Declaration of Conformity was not supplied with the machinery. The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 or the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. That is the hazard as reported publicly by the firm and the regulator; it does not necessarily mean every unit has failed.
