Frequently asked questions about this site

Can I look up my own fine, plate or driving licence here?

No, and that is a decision rather than a technical limit. A lookup tied to a plate or an ID legitimately exists only in the issuing body’s channel, and every relevant page here links to it. A site promising that lookup without going through the agency is usually a scam.

Why does the site show no vehicle price table?

Because the price tables that would be useful here are not licensed for redistribution, and the APIs that mirror them forbid it in their own terms. We would rather explain what such a table is and send you to the official source than publish a number we have no right to republish.

Who writes this site?

One person, named with an address on the contact page. Recalls, deadlines and efficiency figures come from official agencies; the text around them is written here, page by page, from public research — it is not bulk-generated and unreviewed.

Why do some pages have much less text?

Because there is little public material on that subject. We prefer a short, true page to a long, padded one. When there is neither official data nor material to write from, the page stays online, says so plainly, is not indexed by Google and carries no advertising either.

Where do the photos come from?

From Wikimedia Commons under free licences, with the author and licence printed under each photo. We download them and serve them from our own server. No photo appears on two pages, and a subject with no freely licensed photo gets none.

Is the recall I read here still active?

Each recall page carries the notice date and a link to the agency page that published it. The agency may amend or close the case after our snapshot, so the official notice always wins — it is the one that states whether there is a repair, a replacement or a refund.

How is the site funded?

By advertising. It has no influence on which subjects get a page or on what the text says, and no manufacturer pays for placement. We accept no paid links and no sponsored posts.

I found a mistake. What do I do?

Write through the contact page, naming the page and the sentence. Send the official link with the correct wording and the fix goes out the same day.
