Terms of use
The honest summary: the site is free, informational, and no page here replaces what the safety agency or the tax office actually publishes.
What this site is
A reference site about three things: consumer product recalls and safety alerts published by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards and Health Canada; household energy use built from the EPA ENERGY STAR certified product data; and consumer guides on warranty, right to repair and product identification.
We do not issue documents, do not handle claims, are not a safety agency, are not a consumer protection body and have no relationship with any manufacturer. Nobody pays us to feature a product, a brand or a service.
About accuracy
Figures, dates and remedies are copied from official sources without any recalculation of ours, and every page says where it came from and when it was checked. Even so, agencies amend and close notices, and certification data is republished on its own schedule, which can be after our snapshot.
So before you return a product, claim a refund or rely on an efficiency figure, confirm it through the official link on the page itself. Nothing here is a document, a test report or legal advice.
Closed databases we refuse to copy
Some databases that would be useful here are not licensed for commercial redistribution. The Brazilian Fipe vehicle price table is the clearest case: the official site forbids sending, distributing, publishing or disclosing its data without authorisation, and the third-party APIs that mirror it forbid redistribution in their own terms, because they have no right to sublicense what is not theirs.
The practical consequence is visible on the site: we explain what such a table is and how to consult it at the source, and we publish no value from it. The same test applies to every source here — either the licence allows commercial use, or the number does not go in.
What the site will not do, by choice
We do not and will not run a lookup by licence plate, fine number, national ID or driving licence. That involves another person’s data, legitimately exists only in the issuing body’s own channel, and any site promising it elsewhere is usually a scam.
We also do not explain how to dodge a penalty, evade a fine or get around a product restriction. What we do is explain how the rule works and point to where it is actually applied.
What you may do with it
Read it, print it, quote it and send the link to anyone. If you quote it, quote the official source too — that is what gives the figure its weight, not us.
You may not copy the whole site or scrape the pages in bulk to build a lookalike. The official data is public and you can fetch it at the source; the written text, the structure and the translations are ours.
Advertising and external links
The site is paid for by advertising. Ads are served by third parties and never depend on the subjects we choose: there is no sponsored recall, no paid placement for a brand and no text traded for money.
Links to the CPSC, the OPSS, Health Canada, ENERGY STAR, Eurostat and Wikimedia lead off this site, and what happens there is not under our control.
Changes and governing law
These terms may change when the site changes. The version that counts is the one published on this page.
Any dispute follows Brazilian law, as that is the country of the person responsible for the site.
